The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No 3 Cigars made their debut in the Autumn of 2023. These exquisite, torpedo-shaped cigars marked the first addition to the Hoyo de Monterrey lineup since 2008 and the first figurado in recent memory. As the fourth installment in the highly regarded Línea Epicure, it joins the ranks of the esteemed Epicure No 1, No 2, and Epicure Especial.
These cigars embody the timeless, graceful essence of the Hoyo de Monterrey style, boasting a light yet elegant flavor profile with remarkable sophistication and depth. Adorned with a beautiful, silky, light brown wrapper, these Habanos exude an enticing aroma accompanied by subtle hints of bitterness and woody undertones that enhance the overall elegance and complexity of Hoyo de Monterrey’s creations. The tapered head ensures a concentrated smoke that envelops the palate with a rich and layered experience. For those seeking a delicate yet aromatic Havana cigar this presents an irresistible choice.
Hoyo de Monterrey cigars trace their origins to the town of San Juan Martinez in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba. In 1865, Jose Gener, originally from Tarragona, Spain, bestowed the name of his “vega” upon a brand of Habanos. The term “Hoyo” translates to “hole” and aptly describes the low-lying location of Gener’s plantation along the fertile banks of the San Juan y Martinez River. The brand gained prominence through its renowned Double Coronas, as well as the Epicure No 1, Epicure No 2 and Epicure Especial. Additionally, they produce a line named “La Hoya Series,” which offers a slightly stronger and spicier alternative to the brand’s classic range.
All sizes within the collection are meticulously crafted with “tripalarga, totalmente a mano” methods, signifying the use of long filler and entirely handmade construction utilizing leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone.
The smoking time for these cigars is approximately 45 minutes.
