The Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo De Maire Cigar is a small cigar. Its vitola name, “Entreactos”, means “between acts” and it was originally designed for the theatre going smoker to be able to smoke during a short interval.
Hoyo de Monterrey cigars originate from the town of San Juan Martinez in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba. Jose Gener, who was originally from Tarragona in Spain, first used the name of his “vega” on a brand of Habanos in 1865. ‘Hoyo’ literally means a ‘hole’ and in this case describes the low-lying position of the plantation on the fertile banks of the San Juan y Martinez river. All sizes are ‘tripalarga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade using filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone.
Although Hoyo de Monterrey is known for being one of the lightet styles of cigars, the “La Hoya” series of vitolas, including the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo De Maire Cigar, is are generally accepted to be slightly stronger and spicier than the brand’s classic range, like the Epicure No 2. This makes this slim and short cigar an attractive choice for those who seek a lighter cigar with great elegance, complexity and a little spice.
A perfect smoke for when time is tight. Perfect with a coffee in the morning or on a short walk.
Smoke time around 10 minutes.
