An exclusive selection of 6 bottles of wines for Christmas or other special occasions. This festive assortment of classic wines including a frizzante Prosecco and a superb Late Bottled Vintage Port from Niepoort. Two white wines, a crisp and fresh Sauvignon Blanc from Domaine Bailly Reverdy in Sancerre and a fuller, richer white Burgundy from Louis Jadot. Also a mellow Fitou by English winemaker Katie Jones and a classic, great value Bordeaux from one of the satellite villages of St Emilion.

Sparkling Wine

1 bottle Villa Domiziano Prosecco Corda Colla Trevigiani IGT Frizzante NV

Straw yellow in colour with fine perlage. The bouquet is intense with notes of citrus and apples. Fresh and light.

White Wine

1 bottle Sancerre La Mercy Dieu, Domaine Bailly Reverdy

Good clear pale straw, yellow colour. The nose has aromas of white blossom, acacia, zingy citrus fruits, a touch of gooseberry and chalky minerality. The palate is clean, fresh and pure with peach and apricot flavours and gentle smokey notes. A round and well-structured wine with great mouthfeel, acidity and a good mineral finish. A complex Sancerre with real depth.

1 bottle Bourgogne Clos de Loyse Chateau Des Jacques, Domaine Louis Jadot

Light, golden colour and has fantatic aromas of rich toasty notes backed up with fruity (pear, peach, lemon) and vanilla aromas. The palate has excellent structure and balance with elegant fruit and creamy, vanilla notes. Smooth and balanced with great poise. Superb value for money for a Bourgogne Blanc.

Red Wine

1 bottle Chateau Rocher Calon, Montagne St Emilion

Lovely clear, dark ruby colour. The nose has aromas of dark black fruit, cooked plums, cherries, hints of spice, a touch of oak and some floral, violet notes. The palate demonstrates redcurrant and strawberry fruit flavours. There is also a hint of chocolate and espresso. The palate has an initial sweetness but finishes dry. The tannins a little grippy but quite supple which gives this medium bodied Claret and good, velvety mouthfeel.

1 bottle Domaine Jones Fitou, Appellation d’Orgine Protegée (AOP)

Dark ruby red colour. The nose is full of aromas of dark fruits, hints of strawberry, blackberry confit, spicy, peppery notes and hints of anise. Leading onto the palate there are flavours of cherries, cherry stones, dark fruit and pencil boxes with an almost jammy, but dry, finish. The finish is persistant soft tannins and good acidity. A fun red wine, this is chunky yet with an elegance and purity that one wouldn’’t normally associate with wines from this area. Soft, smooth and mellow.

Port

1 bottle Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage Port (LBV)

Dark, red appearance. Fresh, floral aromas on the nose with hints of dark plums and blackberries. On the palate, vinosity is at the forefront and although medium-bodied it exhibits fantastic length with grainy soft tannins and superb dark fruits leading to a fresh acid driven finish. Niepoort 2011 Late Bottled Vintage Port is ready to be enjoyed now but will become more complex if cellared for a few years.
