Mezan Jamaica Worthy Park 2005 Vintage Rum is part of a the Mezan Rum range of single cask bottlings. These are all single cask (apart from the Jamaica XO, which is an aged blend, and the Chiriqui from Panama) and single vintage bottlings.
The idea behind the Mezan range of rums is to bring to the consumer the story of the diversity of rum amongst the Caribbean Islands – styles and methods of production, and therefore the rums vary widely. Mezan rums are also bottled as natural as possible – after the casks have been selected – they are not chill-filtered, nor is there any colour, sugar or other flavourings added.
The Worthy Park estate has been has been a working sugar estate since 1720 with the first rum being produced in 1741. It is located 40 miles by road to the north west of Kingston at 1200 feet above see level. The estate was acquired by the Clarke family since 1918 and has remained privately owned and managed since. A new distillery was completed in 2005 and this bottling is some of the first rum produced at the new distillery. Worthy Park rum is made from molasses and double distilled in a Forsyth’s copper pot still. The new distillery was built with efficiency in mind and designed to maintain the highest level of quality.
Mezan Rums are bottled as natural as possible. After the casks have been selected they are not chill-filtered, nor is there any colouring, sugar or other flavourings added. They are pure untouched rums with a natural level of sweetness and colour.
Bottled at 46% ABV.
