Description

Karisimbi Spiced Rum is a small batch spiced rum made by the Gorilla Spirits Co. This fabulous spiced rum is named after Mouth Karismbi after the highest volcanic mountain in the Virunga National Park, located between between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Gorilla Spirits Co. was founded by Andy Daniels and was born out of a passion for wishing to produce high-quality, artisan spirits while also supporting conservation efforts. Andy spent four years perfecting the Mountain Strength Gin recipe until the first release in 2015. The original distillery was located in Four Marks near Alton but, needing more space, they relocated to the village of Upton Grey, southeast of Basingstoke, in the summer of 2018. As of 2024, the spirits are made at the Spirit of Manchester Distillery.

As well as this fabulous flavoured gin they also produce various other gins, including Silverback Mountain Strength, an Old Tom, a Wild Strawberry and Blackback Vodka, Karisimbi Spiced Rum and Maraba coffee liqueurs. Their products have received many awards and accolades for their quality and craftsmanship.

Karisimbi Spiced Rum is a multi-island rum, a complex blend of unaged and three to five-year-old rums from the Dominican Republic and Barbados and unaged pot still rums from both Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. The rum is then aged in ex-Bourbon casks and is richly spiced with blood orange, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla, this is a Spiced Rum like no other. Bottled at 40% ABV.

For every bottle of Karisimbi Spiced Rum sold in the UK, Gorilla Spirits add GAT (Gorilla Added Tax). For each bottle sold, 10% of the profits go directly to The Gorilla Organization who are working to save the last remaining gorillas from extinction.

Each bottle is made from 100% post consumer recycled glass, meaning that it is made from the glass that all of us have put into our recycling bins!
