Description

Beaujolais Villages is a lighter style of red wine made from 100% Gamay grapes sourced from throughout the Beaujolais wine growing appellation. It is seductive and well-balanced with delectably soft tannins.

This particular Beaujolais Villages is made by a wine co-operative called La Cave des Grands Vins de Fleurie. The co-op was founded in 1927, largely by the women of Fleurie, who has become used to working together, during and after WW1, when many of the men from the region were fighting and many would not return. Today the co-op is one of the largest producers Fleurie AC (as well as Brouilly, Chirouble, Morgon, Moulin A Vent, Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages) and has 330 member-winegrowers with over 350 hectares of vineyards.

Tasting Notes

La Cave des Grands Vins de Fleurie Beaujolais Villages has a an intense deep garnet hue. This wine offers an elegant and expressive nose with intense and slightly jammy red fruit aromas. The wine is supple and well-balanced on entry to the palate, with smooth,
melted tannins which give it a very attractive and succulent character.
