Description

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Reserve de la Comtesse 1995 presented in a 3 Litre Double Magnum. This Double Magnum has been hand-signed by the then owner of the Chateaux, at the Chateau itself, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing. The level is good and it comes in a wooden box (which has never been sealed), please look at the pictures for more information. A very rare bottle!

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande was founded in 1689 by Pierre de Mazurede Rauzan and the vineyard acquired its name a few years later when his daughter Thérèse received it as part of her dowry on her marriage to Jacques de Pichon Longueville, the first President of the Parliament of Bordeaux. In the 1855 classification Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande acquired the status of Second Cru Classé. In 1925 Edouard and Louis Miailhe purchased the estate. May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, the daughter of Edouard, inherited it in 1978. She quickly rekindled the same enthusiasm that had inspired the Comtesse de Lalande, sharing with her a love of the land and its wines. Continuing the tradition of family ownership, Champagne Louis Roederer took over the controlling share of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in November 2006.

Pichon Comtesse has 102 hectares under vine in a privileged location, close to the Gironde Estuary, in the southern part of the Pauillac appellation. Comprising over 100 vineyard plots, it gives pride of place to the star grape variety of the Médoc, Cabernet-Sauvignon, alongside the other emblematic Bordeaux varieties: Merlot, of course, as well as Cabernet Franc.
