Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge is the estate’s biggest-selling red wine, and it is usually a blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre. The grapes undergo traditional winemaking methods and temperature-controlled fermentation. Long soaking on the skins. Aged for 1 ½ years in oak foudres.
Guigal Wines was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the village of Ampuis. His son, Marcel, took over from his father in 1961. Today, Philippe Guigal serves as Director and Oenologist, working alongside his father Marcel to uphold the family’s legacy of Rhône Valley leadership and uncompromising commitment to quality.
Today the family owns extraordinary plots across prestigious appellations including Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie. The wines are meticulously crafted and aged at the stunning 12th-century Château d’Ampuis. In 2003, driven by an obsession with quality control, Guigal established its own onsite cooperage at the Château. Working in partnership with the renowned Seguin Moreau cooperage at Chagny, they handcraft their own barrels, ensuring total control over the oak ageing process from forest to cellar.
