Description

E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rose is a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and 10% Syrah. It is a classic expression of a Rhône rosé and is fruity, round and rich.

The Guigal domain was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the village of Ampuis. His son, Marcel, took over from his father in 1961. The Guigal family owns vineyards in Condrieu and in the Côte-Rôtie with illustrious plots in many famous appellations. The wines are made and aged at 12th century Chateau d’Ampuis located in the northern Rhone. In the summer of 2003, in an effort to improve quality and control over all aspects of wine making, Guigal opened an onsite cooperage. The cooperage at the Château d’Ampuis works in partnership with the cooperage at Chagny managed by Seguin Moreau.

The grapes for E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rose wine are sourced from vineyards with clay limestone or pebbles and alluvial soils. The vine age is 25 years old. E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rosé is made by macerating the wine on the grape skins for a brief period before the wine is drawn off and undergoes a long temperature controlled fermentation. The wine is rested in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling.

Guigal also produces a red and white Cotes du Rhone.
