AIX Rosé is a refreshing Rosé wine from Procence and is bottled as a Coteaux d’Aix En Provence AOP (Appellation d’Origine Protégée). It is a classic Provencale Rosé blend made from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah grapes.
Maison Saint AIX was founded in 2009 by the Kurver Family from Holland. It is located in the the hills to the north east of the university town of Aix-en-Provence and is one of the largest operations in the Coteaux d’Aix En Provence AOP with some 75 hectares of vineyards. The Coteaux d’Aix En Provence AOP has the most westerly vineyards of Provence. The appellation area extends from the Durance River to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the Rhône Valley (West) to Sainte-Victoire Mountain (East).
The vineyards of Maison Saint AIX are situated at 420 metres, some of the highest in the region. The majority of the soil on which the grapes are grown is either stony clay and limestone, sandy / gravelly or stony with a clay of loamy-sand matrix on the terraces of the Arc and the Durance. This superb location, with its cool nights and hot days and regular cooling, Mistral winds are the perfect conditions for growing Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, the principal grape varieties in AIX Rosé. The domaine’s 50-60 year-old Grenache vines ensure the highest quality juice, while the fruit from the younger vines brings freshness. To maintain the harmony of the land, they run a busy replanting schedule – renwing up to 4 hectares a year with new vines.
The grapes for the AIX Rose are harvested by hand to ensure the best fruit selection and are then gently pressed. The juice then undergoes a temperature controlled, cool fermentation process which helps to preserve the delicate aromas and flavours characteristic of Provence rosés. After fermentation the wine is rested in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling and release.
AIX Rosé is a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and 20% Syrah
