Altesino Bianco IGT Toscana is a wonderfully elegant Tuscan white wine crafted by one of Montalcino’s most respected producers. While world-renowned for their powerhouse Brunello red wines, Altesino brings that exact same commitment to precision and terroir into this refreshing white blend.
On the nose, this Italian white wine has bright, fresh aromas of white flowers, green apple, crisp pear and a delicate touch of Mediterranean herbs. The palate is clean, vibrant, and beautifully balanced, offering juicy stone fruit and citrus flavours anchored by a mouth-watering mineral finish. It is an exceptionally versatile white and is ideal as an aperitif or great when paired with seafood, summer salads and light pasta dishes.
Altesino Vini is one of the most historically important estates in Montalcino, a genuine pioneer that helped shape the modern identity of the region. The estate was established in 1970 by Milanese entrepreneur Giulio Consonno on the northeastern hills of Montalcino and was among a small group of producers who relentlessly pushed for quality elevation.
In 1975, Altesino introduced the concept of single-vineyard cru wines to Montalcino with the release of Brunello Montosoli. Shortly after this, in 1979, the estate became the first in the region to age wines in small French oak barriques. Acquired by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini in 2002, today’s winemaking team, led by Simone Giunti and Alessandro Ciacci, continues to uphold Altesino’s reputation as what Jancis Robinson calls “a standard-bearer for Montalcino.”
The Altesino estate spans roughly 100 hectares, with 50 hectares under vine split across six key sub-zones (including Montosoli, Macina, Cerbaia, and Velona). This diverse microclimate portfolio allows Altesino to craft balanced, complex wines across their entire range, from flagship Brunellos down to approachable, everyday gems like the Altesino Bianco and its red partner, the Altesino Rosso IGT Toscana.
