Description

Doran Vineyards Arya is a vibrant South African white wine blend that captures the best of two classic varietals: Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc. Crafted with precision, each grape is vinified separately to preserve its unique character before being expertly blended just before bottling. The result is a bright and refreshing South African white blend with aromas of citrus, green apple, and tropical fruit. Crisp and zesty on the palate, combining Chenin Blanc’s ripe orchard fruit with Sauvignon Blanc’s fresh acidity and herbaceous lift, finishing clean and lively.

Doran Vineyards Arya Winemaking

Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested early in the cool morning hours.

  • Grapes for the Doran Vineyards Arya were transported to the cellar for destemming and crushing.
  • Free-run juice was left to settle overnight.
  • Juice was racked the following day into stainless steel fermentation tanks.
  • Fermentation lasted 14 days at a controlled temperature of 13 to 14 °C.
  • Wine was aged on its lees for two months to enhance texture and complexity.
  • Each varietal was vinified separately.
  • Final blending took place just before bottling.

Doran Vineyards, Boutique Winemaking in Voor-Paardeberg

Doran Vineyards can be found on the Far Horizons Farm in the Voor-Paardeberg wine terroir located between Paarl and Riebeek Kasteel. Voor-Paardeberg is a small wine-growing area within the Paarl winegrowing district, which was awarded its WO (Wine of Origin) in 2006. The nearest town is Wellington, some 15 minutes away. The region enjoys a very hot and dry climate, with rain very rare in the summer months. Dry farming is very common in the area, with sea air from the Atlantic offering a vital moderating factor to the intense summer heat.

Established in 2010

Doran Vineyards is a leading South African wine producer founded by Irish entrepreneur Edwin Doran. After first visiting South Africa in 1981, Edwin built a successful sports travel business focused on tours to the country, which he sold to TUI Travel Plc in 2008. In 2010, he purchased Far Horizons Farm with winemaker Andre Badenhorst, launching a R50 million investment programme across the 179-hectare estate. Today, Doran Vineyards operates as a mixed-use farm, combining premium wine production with arable farming, Aberdeen Angus cattle, and ÃŽle-de-France sheep.

Vineyards were first established on the estate in 1995, with key red grape varieties including Pinotage and Syrah, later expanded to include Grenache and Durif. White grape plantings followed in 2011, featuring Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, and Roussanne – core varietals in South African white wine production.

In 2019, Edwin’s son Tom Doran joined the business, continuing the family’s commitment to producing high-quality South African wines.
