Louis Guntrum Gewurztraminer Trocken is an aromatic dry wine from the Rheinhessen. Germany is probably not the first country that springs to mind when one thinks about this spicy, aromatic grape variety, where the Riesling grape dominates. There is only a small amount of Gewurztraminer planted in Germany and it is usually vinified as a dry wine that is a little less austere than those of Alsace.
The Louis Guntrum Estate, established 1948, is now in the hands of the 11th generation of the Guntrum family and includes some of the best vineyard sites in Nierstein and Oppenheim. The Herrenberg Vineyard (Herr = Lord, Berg = Mountain) is a well protected vineyard nestling in a horseshoe-shaped hillside. The soil is loam and clay and and has excellent water retention. Louis Guntrum take various measures in the vineyard, reduced pruning, defoliage and green harvest, to ensure a good harvest. They also only use very limited and strictly monitored fertilizers and chemicals. Yields of less than 3.500 litres per hectare.
Louis Guntrum Gewurztraminer Trocken is made only from carefully selected Gewurztraminer grapes which undergo a gentle pressing followed by temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
