Louis Jadot: A Rich History

Maison Louis Jadot is one of the largest and most famous wine producers and negociants in the Burgundy wine-growing region. The origins of the company date back to 1859 when the business was founded by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. Over time, the company has acquired plots of vines in some of the most prestigious vineyards in the region, including Beaune Clos des Ursules, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and many more. Louis Jadot owns or directly controls 120 ha in the Côte d’Or, including over 90 individual vineyard sites, 84ha in the Beaujolais Crus and 18ha in the Mâconnais, primarily in Pouilly-Fuissé (they own the fantastic Domaine Ferret).

Louis Jadot & Domaine Gagey

Pierre-Henry Gagey became president of Maison Louis Jadot in 1992. Pierre-Henry is the son of André Gagey, who was entrusted with the management of Louis Jadot in 1962 by Madame Jadot following the tragic death of her son. Pierre-Henry is a passionate believer in terroir, allowing the wines to present the very essence of Burgundy. Louis Jadot wines from vineyards owned by the Gagey family are labelled as Domaine Gagey. Savigny Les Beaune: A Premier Wine-Growing Village

Savigny Les Beaune is a wine-growing village par excellence, to the north of and adjacent to Beaune. 90% of wine production here is red wine under both village and 1er cru bottlings. The vineyards of Savigny Les Beaune face south / south-east, east and north-east. They are situated at a height of between 220 and 360m. The chalky soils are gravely or stony, light and not very fertile.

The Clos des Guettes Vineyard

Louis Jadot Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes is just under 1 hectare in size and lies in the middle of the commune, near the village of Savigny. The vineyard has south, south-east, east and north-east exposure and is situated between 220 and 360m. The chalk soil is gravely or stony, light and infertile. This wine is aged in oak barrels for an average of 12-15 months before being bottled.

Tasting Notes
