Pusser’s Rum, A Taste of Tradition
For centuries, sailors toasted with Pusser’s Rum as part of the Royal Navy’s daily ration. Today, you’ll have the chance to savour that same authentic taste while learning about its seafaring heritage and intricate distillation craft.
Your tasting for the evening includes an exceptional lineup:
- Pusser’s Rum Blue Label British Navy Rum (40%) – The original Navy blend, rich with notes of molasses, caramel, and spice.
- Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof (54.5%) – A full-bodied spirit with bold depth and a fiery finish, bottled at traditional “Navy strength.”
- Pusser’s Select Aged 151 “Green Label” (75.5%) – A rare and powerful rum that showcases the full intensity of Guyanese craftsmanship.
- Pusser’s 15-Year-Old Rum (40%) – Smooth and complex, aged to perfection for a refined sipping experience.
- Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof Spiced (54.5%) – A tempting twist on tradition, balancing strong Navy character with warming spices.
There will also be a cocktail on arrival, and if any of the Pusser’s Rum Limited-Edition Night Watch is still available at the time of the tasting, we will show this too.
Pusser’s Rum Tasting Review
A Rumtastic Evening – from the Pusser’s Painkiller cocktails on arrival up to the breathtaking Green Label 151 (75.5%), a great evening was had by all.

A huge thank you must go to Murdo MacLeod, Pusser’s Rum UK Brand Ambassador and our guide for the evening. Murdo’s passion for the spirit of the British Navy was quite infectious, and his knowledge, storytelling, and warmth made the whole experience come alive.

Murdo walked us through the rich seafaring history of Pusser’s Rum with enthusiasm and was assisted by the attendees with various interesting sea stories. Indeed, one of the ex-Royal Navy men in attendance told a great story about how his ship nearly missed out on drawing the last rum ration on Black Tot Day in 1970 – for which he was rewarded with a bottle of 151.

We showed the full Pusser’s Rum line-up available from the classic Blue Label with its notes of molasses and caramel, through to the mighty Gunpowder Proof and the rare and intense Select Aged 151 Green Label. The 15-Year-Old was a superb reminder that there is no alternative to time spent in the barrel.

But the star of the evening – and the runaway best seller on the night – was the Pusser’s Night Watch Limited Edition. What a privilege to have been able to try this exceptional rum. Rich, complex, and utterly memorable. If you can still get your hands on a bottle, do not hesitate.

A warm thank you also to all the fellow attendees who made the evening such a brilliant social occasion. Fareham Wine Cellar puts on many wine (and spirit) tastings, dinners and events – if you haven’t been to one yet, you are absolutely missing out. Maybe we’ll see you at the next one! #Upspirits!
