Marc Brédif Chinon is a classic red wine from the historic Chinon appellation in France’s Loire Valley. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, this elegant French red showcases the grape’s hallmark freshness, bright red fruit character and subtle savoury complexity.
Produced by the renowned Loire Valley specialist Marc Brédif, this Chinon combines traditional winemaking with the distinctive terroir of the region. The result is a medium-bodied red wine with aromas of raspberry, cherry and blackcurrant alongside hints of violet, graphite and gentle spice.
Smooth, versatile and food-friendly, Marc Brédif Chinon is an excellent introduction to one of France’s most respected Cabernet Franc appellations and a perfect choice for lovers of elegant, terroir-driven red wines.
The Cabernet Franc grapes for the Marc Bredif Chinon are grown in the northern part of the Chinon area, specifically in Savigny-en-Véron. The wines are vinified in the state-of-the-art winery located within the landmark Château du Noze. The Cabernet Franc vines have an average age of 15 years. The vineyards are principally gravelly, with varying proportions of clay, and have mostly north / south sun exposure.
Marc Bredif is famous not only for the best Chinon wines, but also for some fantastic Vouvray wines, including some very long-lived aged Vouvrays, aged in their famous cellars, which are among the largest and most beautiful of the appellation. The cold and humid caves, dug deep into the hillsides, offer extraordinary wine storage conditions. No oak is used in the winemaking of the Vouvray or Chinon to respect the freshness of the grapes and the terroir.
Domaine Bredif was founded in 1893 and is one of the most famous wine estates in the Loire. It was acquired by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette (arguably most famous for their Baron de L Pouilly Fumé) in 1980.
Baron de Ladoucette is dedicated to maintaining exceptionally high standards throughout its portfolio. The company also has vineyards in Sancerre at Château Lafond and in Touraine at Les Deux Tours. The Loire Valley wines of Marc Bredif consistently deliver great value and are available to buy at Fareham Wine Cellar.
Chinon is one of the Loire Valley’s most famous red wine appellations and is located around the medieval town of Chinon in the Touraine region. Cabernet Franc thrives in the area’s limestone, clay and gravel soils, producing wines that are fresher and more aromatic than many fuller-bodied reds from other French regions.
The best Chinon wines are celebrated for their vibrant fruit, floral aromas, refreshing acidity and remarkable ability to pair with food.
