Skipper Demerara Dark Rum was first launched in the 1930s and this fantastic dark rum still has the same blend and a label almost identical to the original This molasses-based is a blend of 7 Demerara dark rums which are all at least 3 years of age. Only rum originating from beside the Demerara River in Guyana can have the appellation ‘Demerara Rum’.
The rums for Skipper Demerara Dark Rum are all now distilled at the world famous Diamond Distillery at Plantation Diamond on the East Bank of the Demerara River. The Diamond Distillery operates the original production Stills used on three of the largest Sugar Estates of the 18th and 19th centuries (they are more famous these days for producing El Dorado rums). The distillery uses three different still types, the famous Diamond Distillery wooden stills (the spirit from these makes up a large part of the Pusser’s Rum blend), a Pot Still and an Enmore Coffey Still together with several standard Coffey Stills.
Skipper Demerara Dark Rum is an old fashioned Naval Rum. It is rich, dark and viscous spirit perfect for cocktails, punches and long drinks. As the label says “The Best In This Rum World”.
