Description

Mossburn Single Cask Glentauchers 2009 Sauternes Finish is a single vintage, single cask, third party bottling of Speyside Single Malt Whisky. It is part of Mossburn’s Single Cask range, a collection of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies each issuing from a strictly limited and select batch of casks.

Mossburn Distillers & Blenders is a brand new Scotch whisky project owned by Marussia Beverage which is part of the empire controlled by Swedish billionaire Frederik Paulsen. The company is headquartered at Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders on the site of the former Jedforest Hotel. Their new distillery, called Reivers Distillery, will be one of the first new distilleries to be built in the Borders for over 150 years. Mossburn have also established Torabhaig Distillery on the Isle of Skye, which opened in 2017 (the second distillery on Skye after Highland Park). The parent company also own the Kaikyo Distillery in Japan which produces Hatozaki whiskies. Not content with this, they have also created the peaty Caisteal Chamuis whisky range. The first Mossburn bottlings were released in 2017. Building a whisky distillery and waiting for whisky to come online (the spirit has to be aged for at least 3 years before it can even be called whisky) is a long term project. So, in the meantime, Mossburn have started the ball rolling by bottling a small collection of ever-changing single malt whiskies and two permanent blended malts, an Island and Speyside, with bespoke cask bills. There are also some very limited occasional single cask bottlings.

The Glentauchers Distillery was founded in 1897 by James Buchanan and W.P. Lowrie and is situated near Mulben, Keith in Speyside. Glentauchers primarily produces whisky for blending purposes, and it has been an important supplier for various well-known whisky brands over the years. However, the distillery has also released official single malt bottlings, which have gained recognition among whisky enthusiasts. It is known for its floral and fruity character, with notes of orchard fruits, citrus, malt, and honey. The whiskies often exhibit a balanced and smooth profile, reflecting the traditional Speyside style.

Mossburn Single Cask Glentauchers 2009 Sauternes Finish was distilled in April 2009 and bottled as a 13 year old in November 2022.

It is finished in Sauternes cask and bottled, non chill filtered, natural colour at 58.7% ABV.

Only 294 bottles produced.
