Description

Pra Amarone della Valpolicella presented in a 1.5L Magnum, perfect for when one bottle of Amarone is not enough!

Azienda Agricola Pra is headed by Graziano Pra. Graziano followed his father and grandfather into the wine business, studying oenonlogy, and taking over the family winery in the early 1980s. He bottled his first Soave vintage in 1983. Graziano now also produces red wines from his La Morandina estate in Valpolicella, and his reputation continues to grow. However, for many, his name is still synonymous with Soave – where he is regarded as one of a handful of world class producers who have revitalised the region.

Pra Amarone della Valpolicella is a blend Corvina 30%, Corvinone 30%, Rondinella 30% and 10% Oseleta grape varieties sourced from oganically farmed vineyards in Mezzane and Tregnago. The vineyards were planted in 2001 with a South Easterly aspect on glacial soils. The grapes are harvested late, in Mid October, and are then dried for 2 months. After this period of drying, the grapes are destemmed, pressed and vinified with delestage followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation for 15 days in stainless steel vats.

The wine is then aged for 2 years in oak tonneaux and barriques prior to blending and ageing for a further year in large Allier oak casks. The wine is then aged for 1 year in bottle prior to release. The 2012 vintage is a hefty 16.5% abv.

The label features the TPR Horse breed, an Italian Heavy Draft Horse, to personify the power and elegance than this Amarone provides.

This wine is suitable for vegan and vegetarians.
