Description

Tedeschi ‘Ansari’ Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is a red wine from the Veneto. It was created by the three Tedeschi siblings, ANtonietta, SAbrina and RIccardo, hence the name, AnSaRi.

About Tesdeschi Ansari Amarone

Tedeschi ‘Ansari’ Amarone della Valpolicella is a relatively new wine for Tedeschi. Ansari is a small batch of wine produced by blending just three barrels of wine, each one the result of a careful selection by ANtonietta, SAbrina and RIccardo, who have collaborated to create an Amarone of great personality. The symbol on the label is connected with the name Ansari and is formed by the combination of the two initial letters of Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo Tedeschi. On it, there are three grapes and the representation of the concentration process in the drying phase.

Tedeachi Ansari Winemaking

  • The grapes for Tedeschi Ansari are harvested from various vineyards located on hills in the Valpolicella area (specifically the Mezzane and Tregnago hills).
  • The vineyards are planted on clay and limestone soils with a strong rocky structure.
  • Vine density is 5,500 vines per hectare.
  • The grape blend consists of:
    • 35% Corvina
    • 40% Corvinone
    • 20% Rondinella
    • 5% Oseleta
  • Harvest takes place from the end of September to the beginning of October.
  • After harvest, the grapes undergo a humidity-controlled drying period of 4 months (appassimento process).
  • The dried grapes are then soft-pressed.
  • Fermentation and maceration last 40 to 60 days at a controlled temperature of 15–18°C.
  • The wine is matured in Slavonian oak barrels for approximately 30 months.
  • It receives a further 6 months of ageing in the bottle before release.

Tedeschi Family Wines, Since 1824

The Tedeschi Family wine business can trace its roots back to 1824 when Nicolo Tedeschi purchased several vineyards (although the family have records of owning vineyards back to 1630). A descendant, Riccardo Tedeschi, purchased vineyards in 1918, which included Monte Fontana and their famous Amarone vineyard, Monte Olmi. Today, Tedeschi remains a family business and, through a combination of tradition and innovation, is one of the foremost wineries and one of the top producers of Amarone and Recioto wines in the Veneto region. The family manages 74 hectares of vineyards, of which 29 are family-owned. Amarone della Valpolicella is considered to be the most prestigious wine of the Veneto region.

Both Amarone and Recioto della Valpolicella (the sweet red wines from the region) were promoted from a Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) to a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) in 2009.

This wine is vegetarian and vegan friendly.

Tasting Notes

Colour: strong ruby red. Clear and transparent.

Bouquet: intense fruity notes of black currant, blueberry, ripe cherry, plum, fig, well blended with notes of coffee, pepper. The balsamic character, the hallmark of the wines produced by the family, is mixed with these notes,

Flavour: balanced wine with good structure and a warm sensation. The wine is well balanced. The retro-smell confirms the notes on the nose. It is a long and persistent wine.

Food Pairing
