Louis Guntrum Oppenheim Herrenberg Auslese is a sweet white German Riesling from the Rheinehessen.

The Louis Guntrum Estate, established 1948, is now in the hands of the 11th generation of the Guntrum family and includes some of the best vineyard sites in Nierstein and Oppenheim. The Herrenberg Vineyard (Herr = Lord, Berg = Mountain) is a well protected vineyard nestling in a horseshoe-shaped hillside. The soil is loam and clay and and has excellent water retention. Louis Guntrum take various measures in the vineyard, reduced pruning, defoliage and green harvest, to ensure a good harvest. They also only use very limited and strictly monitored fertilizers and chemicals. Made only from carefully selected over-ripe grapes which undergo a gentle pressing followed by temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
