Torres San Valentin Blanco is a charming, aromatic white wine from Catalunya, Spain, made in the light, fruity and gently off-dry style for which this much-loved Torres classic is known. This blend of Parellada and Garnacha Blanca combines delicate floral aromas with ripe fruit flavours, a soft palate and a pleasantly luscious finish.
With its distinctive name and romantic history, San Valentin is also a natural choice when looking for a Spanish white wine to share or give as a gift. Available to buy online from Fareham Wine Cellar, this easy-drinking, food-friendly white is particularly well suited to seafood, lighter fish dishes and desserts. And, of course, it makes a great present for Valentine’s Day!
The name San Valentin is no coincidence. The wine was created by third-generation Torres family member Miguel Torres Carbó, who dedicated it to his wife, Margarita Riera, on Valentine’s Day. Torres describes San Valentin as a wine conceived for relaxed occasions such as vineyard walks and picnics.
Its character remains true to that idea: aromatic, approachable and uncomplicated, with plenty of fresh fruit and a gentle sweetness that makes it particularly easy to enjoy.
The wine is made from traditional Catalan white grape varieties, with Parellada providing much of its delicate, aromatic character. The grapes are sourced from higher-altitude vineyards, where cooler conditions help preserve fragrance and freshness.
San Valentin is a light, fruity and off-dry Spanish white wine rather than a bone-dry, sharply acidic style. Its moderate alcohol level and soft texture make it an approachable choice for anyone who enjoys aromatic whites with a touch of sweetness. A versatile Catalunya white with an attractive balance between ripe fruit, gentle sweetness and refreshing acidity.
Familia Torres Wines has been making wine in the ancient Catalán town of Vilafranca del Penedès, southwest of Barcelona, since the 17th Century. It is this tradition combined with innovation, dynamism and commitment to quality that has put Torres firmly on the world map. They remain one of the largest family-owned and run wine companies in the world (there is also Miguel Torres Chile and Marimar Torres in California) and, under the stewardship of fourth-generation Miguel Torres, they are committed to sustainable viticulture and green practices.
In the UK, San Valentin is probably best known as the white wine that everyone drinks when they are on holiday in Tenerife (as well as other Torres favourites like Vina Sol and Vina Esmeralda).
The combination of freshness, fruit and gentle sweetness makes Torres San Valentin particularly versatile with food.
