Grape Blend & Winemaking Style

The secret to Viña Esmeralda’s vibrant perfume lies in the cool microclimate of the mountainous Upper Penedès region. The blend features:

• 85% Moscatel de Alejandría: Provides ripe grape aromatics, luscious floral freshness, and a smooth, rounded mouthfeel.
• 15% Gewürztraminer: Adds exotic complexity, lifting the nose with spicy lychee, acacia honey, and subtle white rose petal.

Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve raw fruit purity, the wine retains around 8g/L of natural residual sugar, giving it a deliciously soft, off-dry profile balanced by crisp Mediterranean acidity.

Familia Torres Wines has been making wine in the ancient Catalán town of Vilafranca del Penedès, southwest of Barcelona, since the 17th Century. In 2006, Torres was awarded European Winery of the Year in Wine Enthusiast’s Annual Wine Star Awards. The Torres family is also one of the founding members of Primum Familiae Vini.

DO Cataluyna (Catalonia in the Catalan language) was officially recognised in 1999 and was created to encompass many wineries in the region that did not fit into any other DOs. DO Catalunya covers the Penedès wine-growing region, where Torres is based in Pàrcs. The white grapes for this wine come from the mountainous Upper Penedes, where the slightly cooler climate is well-suited to the more delicate and aromatic white grape varieties.
