Description

Chateau La Croix Du Duc is a 15 hectare estate located near Lussac St Emilion wine-growing appellation of Bordeaux. The wine is bottled as a Bordeaux Appellation Controlee (AC) and offer some excellent value for money drinking.

The offices of Chateau La Croix Du Duc are located in the locality of Perruchon in the city of Lussac Saint Emilion. The wines from Château La Croix du Duc are produced in the neighbouring district, which border with the appellation Lussac is at the end of the rows. The estate has been in the hands of the Chollet family since 1865. EARL Chollet also produce a Lussac Saint Emilion called Château Roc de Perruchon.

The estate’s vines are planted on clay and gravelly hillsides facing south west and the planting is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are harvested mechanically and undergo traditional fermentation in stainless steel vats, then partly aged in oak barrels. The wine is rested in tanks before bottling.

Chateau La Croix Du Duc is a fruit forward, a great value Claret designed for early drinking. The cuvee mirrors the planting in the vineyard and is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

Tasting Notes

Chateau La Croix Du Duc is a soft, supple and fruity red wine. It has aromas of ripe, red fruits, cherry and raspberry with subtle herbaceous notes and toasty nuances. This is a light to medium bodied wine with more red fruits oni the palate entwined with delicate toasted nuances and smooth tannins.

Food Pairing

Drink with red meat dishes and cheeses. Think grilled steaks or chops, stews. It also works well with mature hard cheeses such as Gouda, Parmesan or Cheddar.
